DEOMI Students Donate to Local Non-Profit
PATRICK SPACE FORCE BASE, Fla. — Students in the Equal Opportunity Advisor Course, Class 23-02, donated more than 200 pounds worth of items to a local non-profit that supports neglected, abused or abandoned children on May 3, 2023, here at the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute. The donation was inspired by the 3rd Annual Team Patrick-Cape donation drive for The Haven for Children, held during April’s Child Abuse Awareness Month.

This year’s WHM theme, Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories, recognizes women who have devoted their lives to telling stories through all forms of media and who have given a voice to those from all walks of life.

PATRICK SPACE FORCE BASE, Fla. —Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute Commandant, U.S. Navy Capt. Delmy Robinson, presented U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Kenneth Moonan, DEOMI operations and plans officer, with several accolades during a farewell ceremony today at Patrick Space Force Base, Florida. The ceremony was held to recognize the many accomplishments Moonan achieved during his time at DEOMI and to wish him well as he embarks on the next chapter of his life.

DEOMI Graduation Marks Significant Milestone Achievement
PATRICK SPACE FORCE BASE, Fla. — On Nov. 22, the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute successfully graduated 44 Equal Opportunity Advisor Course students. The course, which began Oct. 3, marked a significant milestone achievement for the institute, being the first in-person EOAC held since the COVID-19 pandemic forced DEOMI to close its doors to in-resident students in March 2020.

DEOMI Facilitates DHRA Prime Objective: Fortifying a Culture of Service
PATRICK SPACE FORCE BASE, Fla. —The Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute facilitated the third and final in-person session of the Defense Human Resources Activity’s new enterprise-wide managerial training program for supervisory General Schedule-15 employees, Oct.18-20.
The program, which began in June, supports the educational and professional development of Tier 2 Supervisors through six modules that focus on key leadership topics specifically chosen to help supervisors as individuals, members of a team, and stewards of DHRA’s prime objective—fortifying a culture of service.

DEOMI Recon Team Responds in Wake of Hurricane Ian
PATRICK SPACE FORCE BASE, Fla. —
The Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute sent a recon team on Friday to assess the institute for possible damages caused by Hurricane Ian. Ian, a near Category 5 hurricane at landfall, was downgraded to a tropical storm by the time it arrived on Patrick SFB.
Ian passed over the base early morning Thursday with surface winds more than 50 knots (58 mph). The base was placed on HURCON 1 status, which restricted access to only those who have been authorized or are assigned to a hurricane recovery team, to minimize the hazards associated with Ian. In addition to high winds, these hazards included storm surges, heavy rain, flooding, and tornadoes or waterspouts—all of which residents in the area experienced.

DEOMI Facilitates DHRA Managerial Training Program
Aligning Culture with Vision though Open, Collaborative Discussion
PATRICK SPACE FORCE BASE, Fla. — The Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute facilitated the second session of the Defense Human Resources Activity’s new enterprise-wide managerial training program for supervisory General Schedule-15 employees, Sept. 20-22.
The managerial training program supports the educational and professional development of Tier 2 Supervisors, those who supervise subordinate supervisors. The program delivered information and instruction on key leadership topics specifically chosen to help supervisors as individuals, members of a team, and stewards of DHRA’s diverse and inclusive culture.

West Point Cadets Participate in DEOMI Pilot Internship
PATRICK SPACE FORCE BASE, Fla. – The Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI) hosted three United States Military Academy West Point rising senior cadets as part of a pilot Summer Research and Professionalization Internship Program (SRPIP), from June 21st to July 11th.
The pilot SRPIP is part of a broader ongoing research collaboration, established in 2021, between DEOMI’s Research and Development (R&D) Directorate and West Point.
